Tobia was founded in 1939 on June 29th,on Saint Peter’s Day. This town, in its beginnings, was a camp designed for the black people who worked in the construction of the railway that went to the Atlantic coast and needed a place to spend the nights. The town is named after Tobia, since the first road opened to this region was opened by Mr. Tobias Vasquez. The town of Tobia is characterized by the production of panela thanks to the extensive crops of sugar cane that are given in the region.

Tobia is a municipality located in the province of Gualivá (Cundinamarca). It is located 74 kilometers from Bogota, approximately 2 hours away. To get to Tobia it is necessary to go to the transport terminal in Bogota and take a bus to the municipality. You can also take the bus on Calle 80 after crossing Avenida Boyaca.

Tobia is located at 730 meters above sea level, with an average temperature of 23°C. This town is bathed by two important rivers, the Tobia and the Negro Rivers, and thanks to the climate of the region, it is suitable for extreme sports. It is advisable to take warm weather clothes and sportswear, bathing suit, and shoes for extreme sports; sunscreen, hat and insect repellent.
