The Neusa reservoir is a great source of water supply for Cundinamarca, supplying the aqueducts of Cogua and Zipaquirá; in addition to supplying, other important functions are to control floods and regulate flows in the Neusa river basin in the dry seasons. The construction of this reservoir began in 1948, its construction was given to the hands of the firm Winston Brothers & Company. HOW TO GET TO THE NEUSA RESERVOIR?

The Neusa reservoir is located in the municipality of Tausa (Cundinamarca), 67 kilometers northwest of Bogotá, in the eastern mountain range. To get to the Neusa reservoir you must first get to the North portal of Transmilenio and take a bus to Zipaquirá. At the transport terminal of Zipaquirá you can take a bus directly to the entrance of the reservoir. The journey takes about an hour and a half.

To take into account: the opening hours of the reservoir is from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm from Tuesday to Sunday and Mondays on public holidays.

GEOGRAPHY AND CLIMATIC CONDITIONS IN THE NEUSA RESERVOIR

The Neusa reservoir is located at an altitude of 3.000 meters above sea level, has 13,500 square kilometers of area, 900 hectares, and has an average temperature of 10 ° C. In this region there are two winter seasons, the first from April to June, and the second in October and November. It is recommended to wear very warm clothes. If you are going camping, a good option is to bring supplies to prepare a bonfire, gloves, hat and blankets to spend a pleasant night.
