The International Museum of the Emerald is located in the center of Bogota, exactly on the 23rd floor of the Avianca building. This gallery keeps more than 3000 species of emeralds that have been found around the country and the world. In this museum you can also enter the replica of an emerald tunnel with veins of real emeralds from the most important mines in the world.
This collection of emeralds and berylliums dates back more than 30 million years and tries to show the cultural importance of these in the different cultures where they have been extracted. The museum offers guided tours with bilingual and multilingual guides.
HOW TO GET TO THE INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM OF THE EMERALD
The International Emerald Museum is located at 16 street # 6 avenue -66, in the city center, Avianca building, 23rd floor. To get to the International Emerald Museum you must take a bus that goes through the seventh avenue or “Septima”. You can also get there by Transmilenio, taking an articulated bus that leaves you at the Avenida Jiménez station, then you must walk towards the eastern hills looking for the sixth avenue.

The exhibition of the International Emerald Museum is composed of nine hexagonal shaped showcases, which honor the shape of emeralds, and ten other side showcases covering about 600 square meters.
